Good condition
Livestock, as described in the policy addendum, must be in good condition and completely healthy and injury-free at the comencement of insurance.

Death of livestock
n the event of an animal’s death, as outlined in the policy addendum, the insured must notify the company immediately – no later than 24 hours after the incident. Furthermore, the insured may not cut or dispose of the carcass within 24 hours of the company receiving such notification, to allow sufficient time for examination.

At their own expense, the insured must – within 14 days of being requested – provide the company with all relevant information, including veterinary certificates and satisfactory proof of the animal’s death, identity, and value. If the claim is deemed valid, the insured shall dispose of the carcass in the most advantageous manner. Any proceeds from the disposal will be payable to the company..

WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT:
In the event of a livestock claim resulting from lightning:

1. When submitting a claim, the insured must provide the company with an affidavit issued by an independent third party confirming the following:
    i. That a lightning strike was indeed the cause of death of the animal(s).
    ii. That the total number of animals in the insured’s possession – along with the full number of animals not owned by the insured, or held in trust, custody, or under the management of the insured or any of their employees or agents – at the time of the loss declaration, has been accurately reported.
2. All claims exceeding R5 000 must be accompanied by a veterinary report.
